Sometimes, when teeth have been lost, it is desirable to fill the gap for either cosmetic or functional reasons. For a conventional bridge, the adjacent teeth are prepared in the same way as for crowns. A bridge is made - usually with metal and ceramic - which exactly matches the space and which looks like three (or more) ordinary teeth. The bridge is cemented in place and provides a long-lasting and aesthetic restoration. We recommend that patients with crowns and bridges see the hygienist regularly to ensure their restorations last as long as possible.
